9 Beautiful Prayers asking for Forgiveness

Love is the one true reason why God insists that all of his children must forgive one another, as well as themselves, for all of our sins.

If you are familiar with Romans 5:18, God reminds us that we are sinners; you see, God demonstrated His unconditional love through the sacrifice Jesus Christ willingly took for all of us, and because of our sins.

Yes, God understands that we are all flawed people, and because of our flaws we can grow and become better people if we can ask to be forgiven, and also to forgive those that have hurt us, and with that said, if you are seeking forgiveness from the Lord, one of the below prayers may help you speak to God.

Also, I found this wonderful prayer on YouTube that I’d love for everyone reading this to listen to when they have time; it makes me really happy to see fellow people of faith spending their time bringing Christian prayers to life in such creative ways!

Act of Contrition

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you, whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, To do penance, sin no more, And avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy. Amen.

Romans 12: 18-21

Father, I offer to You my deepest prayers. Against the works of the enemy, please guide me. For instance, I ask of You to guide me as I turn my cheeks when my enemies slap me. Because of Your Ways, I ask of You to heal my heart at times it is being tested. With this, I ask that You accept this prayer for forgiveness. In Your Grace, I am protected, loved, and saved. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.

Matthew 5:39-41

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the lamb of God; You take away the sins of the world. Through the Grace of the Holy Spirit restore me to friendship with The Father, cleanse me from every stain of sin in the blood You shed for me, and raise me to new life for the glory of Your name. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Psalm 103: 10-14

Merciful Father, as Your Son paid the price of our sins, He lovingly asked for forgiveness towards all mankind as they do not know what they are doing. Father Almighty, because of this, I am confessing my sins in my thoughts, words, and actions. As well as the sins of my brother and sisters, I am asking for Your Mercy in granting us forgiveness as we live our lives on Earth. I pray, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Lord Jesus, I come before you today feeling quite low. As I consider my mistakes, the ways I have sinned against you and others, my heart breaks to see my actions in the mirror of my conscience, and I feel lost.

When I remember the love you have for us, it deepens my grief for what I have done, and I wish I could take it all back.

I know the only way is forward, however. To move in that direction, I desperately need your forgiveness. May your mercy wash me of all my sins and cleanse my heart of evil desires. Your willingness to die on the cross provides me confidence that, if I ask to be forgiven, you will give me this gift.

And once I have freedom from my sin, keep me safe from future temptations and strengthen my heart and resolve to choose what is right. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice that affords me another chance. Amen.

Micah 7:18

Because of You, I rest completely at night and wake up renewed in the morning. Due to Your Sacrifice, my sins are forgotten and forgiven. Because of Your Love, my enemies cannot drag me down. Therefore, Lord, I ask that you give me power to endure and learn how to forgive others. Merciful Lord, remind me of Your Love so that I won’t seek hate in my heart. Please accept my prayer for forgiveness towards others and myself. May You bless me with understanding and empathy so that the downfall of my enemies won’t give me joy. Lord, may I help them as we walk together in Your Ways. I pray. Amen.

Luke 23:34

in the name of Jesus, the sins of the people were set free. Still, I wake to commit actions that are sinful and wrong in Your Eyes. Additionally, I wake to live my days away from Your Words and I stray away from the teachings You set out for the world. However, Lord, I do not wish to live my life away from Your Grace. I confess my sins to You and I am asking for forgiveness as you cleanse my heart and keep me close to Your presence O’ dear God of Wisdom. I pray, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

    I was raised Catholic even though I have Jewish Ancestry. Today I am a Christian Jewish people who believes in Jesus Christ.

    What I mean by that is not many people know that there are three different groups of Jewish people out there.

    There are Orthodox Jewish people who are strictly Jewish and they don’t believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

    Then there are Modern Jewish people who have their own beliefs.

    Then there are Christian Jewish people like me who are Jewish by Blood because of their Ancestors but may or may not have been raised in a different Religion but believe in some of the traditional Jewish teachings and some of the other Religious teachings such as like I said that I believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and The Messiah.

    One of the hard things that I Preach about is Forgiveness. It does not matter what Religion a person is, to me Forgiveness is Forgiveness.

    As God Almighty Himself said “I am a Loving and Forgiving God”.

    I often look around at God’s world today and I can’t help but Wonder how much time we as human beings have left here before Judgment Day comes.

    As Jesus Christ once said, nobody knows when that day will be not even Him, and that the only one who knows is The Father.

    It makes me wonder if that day could be a million years from now or a hundred years from now or even tomorrow for all we know.

    This is why I try to teach the best that I can about forgiveness and why forgiveness and repenting is so important. Life is short as it is. It is not a good thing to hold grudges against people who may have wronged you. I would like to think that I myself will be better off for giving people if they have wronged me in any way especially given the fact that we don’t know how much time we have left in God’s world before that day comes. I wonder if people hey maybe I should have forgave this person if I would have known Judgment day was coming tomorrow. Or maybe I should have asked for forgiveness if I would have known that Judgment day was coming tomorrow. I like to think that we should treat each and every day as if it were our last because we don’t know when that last day will come and to me forgiveness and repentance especially to ask God for forgiveness for our sins is one of the most important things that there is.
