I can’t believe it, but I’m about to start my 3rd year of college in a couple weeks, and most of my friends’ siblings are starting next week, so with a new school year quickly approaching, it’s time to get in the back-to-school spirit with some prayers for those that we trust the Lord’s children with the most…teachers!

I’ve been very blessed by having some very amazing teachers in my life, as many of you reading this have as well, so try thinking about your favorite teacher of all time when reciting the below prayers.

I cannot take credit for the 5 beautiful Christian prayers your about to read, I discovered them while doing research online, and I just had to share them, so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

1 – A Prayer for the Start of the School Year

Lord, as a new school year begins, bless the teachers and students to start the year strong. Give teachers renewed energy and enthusiasm to teach with passion and purpose. I pray for smooth routines and procedures to be established within the school. May the new year bring new hope, excitement, and readiness to learn and grow. Amen.

2 – A Prayer Giving Thanks to Teachers

Almighty God, We come to you today and give thanks for all our teachers.

Thank you for the way in which they give of themselves each day in the classroom, Serving and instructing the next generation of this land.

We thank you for them all now.

Father, please fill their hearts with courage now by your mighty Spirit.

Fill them with your strength, so they may rise to every challenge and not grow weary. Fill them with your wisdom, so that they may be able to make good judgment when guiding and helping others.

Fill them with your peace, so that when stress and anxiety comes it would not overwhelm them. Fill them with your joy, so that the passion they have for their subject may become an infectious passion that spreads.

We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus.

Lord, I thank you for the wonderful role teachers play in the lives of children and in our society. Grant them peace in their classrooms as they conduct their daily tasks, lessons, and assignments with your grace. I pray for unity in the classroom among students, and for peace and harmony to prevail each day.

4 – A Prayer of Strength

Lord, I pray for teachers everywhere, that they may receive strength and stamina to continue in the work that you have called them to. The role of a teacher is of great importance, and many work countless hours each year to provide the best learning experience for their students. It is a deeply rewarding occupation that also comes with challenges and hardships. Give teachers the strength to continue on, knowing that their work is not in vain.

5 – A Prayer for Safety and Protection

Lord, I pray for the safety of our teachers and students. Unfortunately, we are often reminded on the news that we live in a cruel and harsh world. Protect our teachers and students from harm and danger. While they are in class, may they teach freely without fear of outside threats or intruders. Provide each school with high levels of security that will ward off evil offenders. Surround your teachers and students with your hedge of protection, that they may teach with joy and peace of mind. In Jesus’ name,
